David McFadden, MD, MPH, obtained his degree from Loma Linda University in California in 1973. He later completed a Preventive Medicine residency and Masters of Public Health degree at the same university in 1988. He has been interested in tobacco dependence and smoking cessation since 1980 and has helped design and conduct numerous smoking cessation programs. He has lectured on tobacco dependence topics in numerous countries including France, Canada, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Brazil. He has had an interest in conducting research in complementary/alternative medicine approaches to smoking cessation and the impact of lifestyle on cessation. He joined the Mayo Clinic in 2004 and currently is a consultant in the Mayo Nicotine Dependence Center and General Internal Medicine.
