Constantine Vardavas

Constantine Vardavas is very active in European tobacco regulatory science and public policy where he is an expert on the European Tobacco Products Directive. He is the coordinator of a large number of research projects and policy grants that span the European Continent supporting research that would impact FCTC implementation. Before moving to the EU to spearhead European tobacco control research activities, he was a Senior Research Scientist within the Center for Tobacco Control, of the Harvard School of Public Health. Constantine Vardavas is the co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Tobacco Induced Diseases.

Regulation of Nicotine Products – US and Europe

The role of national regulatory bodies and specific tobacco regulations in tobacco control are described by two leading US and European experts. The nicotine continuum as a basis for regulation and treatment, communication strategies in tobacco product regulation and the role of compliance and enforcement are discussed and compared.
